Motorized Lanai Screens
We use a full basket-weave vinyl-coated polyester fabric that is thinner and lighter weight than traditional screen fabrics. It has a 1% to 20% openness factor depending on application, offering increased heat and glare control as well as daytime privacy. On average, a motorized lanai screen can block out as much as 95% of the sun’s UV rays. However, while a motorized lanai screen removes much of the heat that comes from direct sunlight, they don’t entirely block the sun or even prevent sunburn.
To clean mildew off lanai screens, mix 1 quart of bleach with 3 quarts of warm water, wearing rubber gloves for safety. Alternatively, a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and warm water can be used as a gentler option. Always use these cleaning solutions in moderation.
To remove algae from your lanai screen, dilute vinegar in water in a bottle at a 50/50 ratio. Blend the solution and gently clean the pool enclosure using a sponge or scrub brush until all algae is removed. Dish soap can be used as a substitute for vinegar in this cleaning process.
Lanai screens keep out bugs and insects but don’t eliminate UV rays completely. While a lanai screen can block a lot of the sun’s rays, it won’t ultimately prevent you from getting a tan. So, yes, you can get a tan through a screened lanai.
Begin by soaking them with a garden hose and delicately scrubbing them using a brush dipped in soapy water. This method effectively eliminates fingerprints, weathering, and various stains. Thoroughly rinse the area with the garden hose and ensure the lanai dries entirely to prevent the formation of drip marks.
